Speaker's Ink
You can now book me for your school, library, festival or corporate event!
With talks and workshops available from primary school age to adults, I can cater to your needs.

PRIMARY SCHOOL AGE
Have you got keen readers or creators who would love a visit from a published author?
With sessions for all ages, I can give a reading of my book, explain where my story ideas come from, share my journey to publication, and get them thinking about how to come up with their own stories.
We can work on story prompts to get those creative juices flowing, learn what makes a good character and a good story, or brainstorm story ideas as a group.
If you're interested in the structural and artistic side of making picture books, we can delve into book layouts and illustration guidelines.
Love to rhyme like me? We can take a look at meter and beat counts, stressed and unstressed syllables and rhyming words through interactive workshops. And for a bit of fun, assonance, alliteration and onomatopoeia too.
All visits can be tailored to suit your needs and age ranges.
Give those imaginations a springboard into reality.

HIGH SCHOOL
Perhaps you have high schoolers who are keen to learn all about the craft of writing, but don't know where to start?
I have 30- 60- and 90 minute workshops to pull creative ideas out of heads and get stories started. Learning about types of books and age ranges, they'll be given to tools to figure out where their story belongs.
With age appropriate, interactive workshops focusing on picture books, we'll cover story structure, character building, rhyme and meter, using words wisely, the difference between active and passive, and much, much more.
Perhaps they're also interested in the different avenues to get to traditional or self publication, or even finding an agent.
All workshops can be tailored to your needs and age ranges.
Give your students the confidence to kickstart their writing career.

FESTIVALS AND CORPORATE EVENTS
Having ideas but not knowing how to get them on the page can really dampen your spirits.
With a 30- 60- or 90 minute interactive workshop to choose from, by the end of the session you will be confident to start writing your book.
You'll get an understanding of the types of story and the key elements that make it great. Find out what makes an interesting character and how to give them, and your story, the arc they need.
Get an idea on showing over telling, active vs passive, hooking a reader in, and everything else you need to know through interactive workshops.
With a focus on picture books, you will learn about word counts, illustration notes, how to ready your manuscript for submission, and what to do when you're ready to take the next step.
All workshops can be tailored to fit your interests.
Give that idea you've been pushing aside, it's day in the sun.
